MEETING REMINDER Just wanted to remind everyone about the Neighborhood Association Meeting Scheduled for Thursday March 25th (after Spring Break) beginning at 5:30 at J.T. Hutchinson Middle School. Agenda Items Include: Bylaws Tour De Tech Terrace Wagner Park Meeting with City Officials If you have any agenda items to add please email them to Michael Martin at michael.martin@ttu.edu. NEIGHBORS URGED TO BE VIGILANT. According to a story in the AJ, home and vehicle burglaries are high. Be on the lookout for any suspicious activity in the neighborhood-especially in the alleys between 9 and 5. Check out the story on Lubbock Online:

22nd Street Donnybrook Update-Lubbock Police arrested 19 year old Bailee Barrett in connection to the incident on February 19th. Also, the folks who own the house at 3202 22nd have retained legal representation in response to legal actions filed by Mrs. Grusendorf.

  1. Please on the legal representation!!! Those two must be hard up lawyers! They both live in Tech Terrace and instead of supporting their own neighborhood in trying to set a precedent for FUTURE PARTY HOUSES they are choosing to line their own pockets! They will lose out to either Glasheen's office chewing them up and spitting them out or the DECLINE in their property values!! Wake-up!!

  2. Donnybrook? What year is this, 1851? Golf clap.

As a long-time resident of Tech Terrace, it is disappointing to witness the trends but glad mediocre resident lawyers are defending the party houses. Grusendorf's counsel will eat the LEECHES alive.

Thank you to all the Austin, Hereford, Dallas and San Antonio TT parents who are raising my Tech Terrace property values--can't dispute the numbers ppl.

  3. Leach must not be paying the LEECHES enough money! OR Liggitt (who lives within a block from the PARTY HOUSE) has been partying at his client's house.....hmmmmm???!!!

  4. What a shame that the victim has to get her own lawyer to enforce the zoning code and civil behavior inside the city.

    Why have these laws??

The Jacobys must have big connections (=money) to city hall. Money doesn't talk in city government - it screams.

  5. Concerned Neighbor and FriendMarch 2, 2010 at 9:40 AM

It is darn shame that folks can just talk and work this out. I wonder if the parents who OWN (I don't care if the kid's name is on the deed) the property even knew what was transiring there. What a sorry state of affairs of having to resort to using legalese and other bullsh*t tactics to try and avoid doing the right thing which would be tell these idiots to settle down and be good neighbors or kick their asses to the street and sell the house! I am trying not to jump to conclusions as to whether or not little Holden is a daddy's boy who can do no wrong, but it's certainly not trending that way.

  6. I agree with Concerned Neighbor and Friend--it is a shame that people can't just talk and work this out. What happened to Mrs. Grusendorf was terrible and nobody should have that happen to them. However, is it possible that the young woman who did this is the exception to the rule rather than the norm? This is a truly sad event for our neighborhood but I'm not willing to write off every collegian who lives in the neighborhood as being a criminal who is bent of hurting me or my family. I think if we reached out to that sector of the neighborhood to instill a sense of belonging and pride in ownership, there might be a more positive response. Also, I am neighbors with one of the lawyers who was referred to as being mediocre and money grubbing and I can tell you right now, that he is neither. There are all sorts of legal issues surrounding what happened and unfortunately because of that, lawyers have to be involved. There's no need to be rude or unkind to others who live in our neighborhood--please save the catty comments for someplace else.

  8. If you see kids or even animals using your yard as a bathroom, turn on the sprinklers.

  9. I'm starting to feel like I'm married to Atticus Finch. Now, who would make a better "Scout", Taylor or Emma?

  10. Who is Atticus Finch?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Lawyer in Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird". He takes on an unpopular client and he and his children are persecuted by their neighbors for it.

He explains his taking the case, despite his neighbors' saying it is evil:

"They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're entitled to full respect for their opinions... but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience."

  12. Please do not compare Atticus Finch to Ted Liggett. That is absurd in this case! Have you ever even seen the movie To Kill A Mockingbird? This all time classic movie has absolutely no comparison to Liggett representing the Jacoby's. I am embarrassed for you! Atticus Finch defended a black man, living in the south who was wrongfully accused of raping a white person. I am not only emabarrassed, but offended that you would compare Liggett defending a college student's right to vomit in your yard to what Atticus Finch was defending!

BTW, To Kill A Mockingbird is on channel 41 tonight!

  13. No, I haven't seen the movie, but I've read the book several times. It was a literary reference, not a cinematic one. It is a great book. You might want to read it some time, I think you might understand the comparison then. If not, well, you are certainly entitled to your opinion and full respect for it.

  14. I would just like to point out that Grusendorf isn't suing Barrett, she is suing the Jacobys, the people who own the house who do not even know Barrett. Ted Liggett is not "defending a college student's right to vomit in your yard" he has nothing to do with what happened between Mrs. Grusendorf and Ms. Barrett, he is defending the Jacobys, the owners of the home where the party was held, the alleged attack didn't even occur at the Jacoby's home, it happened at Bailee Barrett's car, but the alleged attack is not even what the law suit is over. Just getting some facts out there!

  15. blah, blah, blah..............

    ReplyDelete
  16. break it down any way you want to the facts remain that we are dealing with students that are hand given anything they want and therefore, have no respect for others private property or peace!! give up the legal break down and look at it for what it is----disrespectful, belligerent, rude, disgusting, babied college kids that have no control over themselves, their houses or their parties!

    ReplyDelete
  17. and obviously their parents have NO CONTROL over their kids!! what a shame!! sad!!

  18. Wow, I didn't think my one comment would stir such a response - both supportive and negative. To those who have said supportive things, thank you (especially the, I'm guessing, English major out there who knows Lee's book so well). I love my neighborhood, and my neighbors and believe that we can all get along, even if we cannot always agree. To that end, I will be at J&B coffee tomorrow at 9:00 am and will happily treat any of my neighbors to coffee and listen respectfully to your viewpoint, and explain my viewpoint, if you care to hear it.

  19. I really enjoyed getting to meet so many neighbors that I didn't know before. I enjoyed it so much, I'm considering doing it once a month, even when we don't have a controversy to discuss. I thought the discussion was lively, friendly and respectful.

  21. Ted is a good guy. His only flaw is he became a lawyer (just kidding). Someone has to defend these kids, it is their right. I don't believe Ted condones what happened rather he is giving them their legal right to representation.

By the way, I met the kids that live at that house and they are very concerned about what happened. Maybe inviting them into this dialog in a non-threatening way would help all sides?

Anyone reached out to them yet?
