South Plains Astronomy in Tech Terrace Park

Folks,

Tonight about 30 minutes after the sun sets (8:45PM-ish), the South Plains Astronomy Club will be hosting a public star party on the south side of Tech Terrace Park (see enclosed map). Telescope and binocular owners, bring 'em. But everyone's welcome, only one eye required to enjoy the glorious night sky. Tonight the moon will be a 12-days old waxing gibbous ...

Also in the heavens will be beautiful Saturn and its rings, several colorful double stars (Alpha Cancri, Algieba, Cor Coroli, h3945, etc.), and various clusters and nebulae (early in the evening, the famous Orion Nebula). So come on out. Should be better than what's on TV. Dress informal but for warmth -- always easier to remove too much clothing than shiver.

Hope to see you there,

Collin Smith
South Plains Astronomy Club Treasurer
