The following was sent to TT/UNIT News by neighbor Mary Vines:
With the spring home tour just 17 days away, we would like to get information out to the neighbors so that they can begin to share it with their friends and acquaintances outside the area.. Word of mouth will go a long way toward publicizing the event and bringing folks in to enjoy the tour. We plan soon to have a flyer that can be downloaded and printed by folks who would like to put some printed information in the hands of prospective buyers. But we would like to have folks start talking up April 24 even before the flyer.
Neighbors who may or may not know prospective residents can help in another way. We need hosts for the houses, so if neighbors could volunteer by sending a return e-mail, that would be wonderful.
A third way neighbors can help is to contact owners selling their homes without a realtor and tell them to contact Laura Anderson (phone number is in media advisory) if they want to be listed on the home tour. People who may be planning to list their homes may want to finalize the listing right away so they, too, can be included.
I’m attaching the media advisory that we’re sending to radio and television stations and newspaper to let people know how they can contribute to the success of this event.

On Saturday, April 24, from 1 to 4 p.m., the first-ever Tech Terrace UNIT Spring Home Tour will take place in the square mile bounded by University Avenue and Indiana Avenue just south of Texas Tech. The free event will be hosted by the TTUNIT Neighborhood Association and local realtors. It will feature homes that are available for prospective homeowners.
Students in this central city neighborhood attend Roscoe Wilson Elementary, Hutchinson Jr. High, and Lubbock High School. These magnet schools have waiting lists for students outside the attendance areas, but every K-12 student living in Tech Terrace UNIT Neighborhood is eligible for enrollment. Other amenities in the neighborhood include two neighborhood parks, and a central business area with a newly-remodeled neighborhood grocery store and many other convenient shops and stores reminiscent of the atmosphere of a small hometown. The neighborhood itself also has the diversity of a small town with residents of all ages, races, and economic status. In Tech Terrace UNIT Neighborhood, a wide range can be found of home architectural styles, sizes, and prices ranging from below $100,000 to over $500,000.
The Tech Terrace UNIT Neighborhood Association has been active for over thirty-five years. It is well-known for its support of parks, schools, and neighborhood preservation. This kid-friendly neighborhood welcomes to this home tour all prospective resident homeowners and particularly families who desire their children to have the opportunities of attending Roscoe Wilson, Hutchinson, and Lubbock High.
