More Traffic Issues in UNIT Neighborhood

The following was sent to UNIT News by resident Tai Kreidler. It illustrates the growing traffic issues we face. I firmly believe this and the wrong sided parking are issues that need to be discussed. Traffic around Roscoe Wilson is borderline ridiculous as well but that is topic for another day. From: Tai Kreidler Sent: Fri, January 29, 2010 Subject: Accidents on 3000 block of 26th Recently it has become increasingly dangerous for residents and their guests to park their cars on the street at the 3000 block of 26th. In the last two weeks there have been two hit and run incidents on resident cars. The first incident occurred on January 22 and the other two weeks before--Jan 4 or 5. Both involved out of area vehicles with cars parked on the street. Both accidents occurred at night. The most recent incident occurred at 3012 and the other accident at 3006. In the latter, the resident at 3006 reported that an elderly woman was responsible and initially fled the scene. She was later identified. Tragically, the woman later struck and killed a pedestrian elsewhere in the city. Unfortunately, the hit and run driver involved with the incident at 3012 was not apprehended. It may be time to seriously consider traffic calming stratagems for 26th Street as well. Tai Kreidler Thanks Tai.
