LISD Schools Serving the UNIT Neighborhood
Schools that serve the UNIT Neighborhood recently earned honors.
10 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists named in Lubbock ISD
National Merit Scholarship Corporation officials announced the 2011 Semifinalists in the 56th annual National Merit Scholarship Program on Sept. 15, 2010. Of the 1.5 million students taking the qualifying exam, Lubbock ISD was home to ten students who earned the prestigious award. LISD is the only district in Lubbock County with more than one semifinalist.
Eight of Lubbock ISD's semifinalists are from Lubbock High School: Ethan E. Earl, Paul Glasheen, Julia Ho, Mary F. O’Briant, Sadaf A. Siddiqui, Sarah N. Steinmeier, Wesley W. Wehde and Laura Xu.
JT Hutchinson Middle School, a fine arts magnet, boasts record enrollment this year. According to Principal Heide Dye, "I couldn't be more proud of the students and faculty for the smooth start to the school year! It is truly a blessing to work with such dedicated professionals each and every day."
