In What the Flock?, choreographer Valerie Komkov Hill explores the behavior associated with sheep, the mentality of the flock vs. the need to express one’s individuality, as well as the physical traits often observed in...........oh who are we kidding?!! It's all about sight gags and cheap laughs at the dancers' expense. Ewe can just think of it as a baaa--d dream'.
destination here - Inspired by real-life events, destination here, deals with midlife, marriage and motherhood. Choreographer Nicole Wesley creates an introspective look at life at 40 with reflections of pleasure, pain and regret.
LNO, choreographed by Kyla Olson, tells the story of five ladies going out on the town. You know these women - the mean girl, the teasing flirt, the quirky dancer, the sloppy drunk, and the shy, designated-driving wallflower. Using pop music as the score, Olson blends jazz, hip-hop, modern, and signature club dances to illustrate a fun night of shenanigans.
A Bull in a China Shop/The Elephant in the Room – Choreographer Ali Duffy explores social behavior and the performances inherent in day-to-day life in this quartet. Inspired by the vaudevillian physicality of Buster Keaton and the wacky charm of Lucille Ball, three distinct vignettes poke fun at the laughable ways women throughout history have been represented in performance.
Boogie Nightmares- Choreographer Sarah Mondle presents a look into the dreaming self, complete with folly and fantasy. The dance is a journey through a trio of dreams following one dreamer. Exploring the idea that dreams tie all human kind together, the dreamer experiences not only flights of fancy but also of fear.
M' ungry - Audience members will squirm with nervous laughter as they witness the dead dancing in this duet by Rachel Ure. Though charmed by playful costuming, unexpected accompaniment, and quirky choreography, spectators will soon realize that they are the targets of an eerie appetite.
Maximum Security: A Cautionary Tale a quartet by Genevieve Durham DeCesaro fuses original narrative with both mimetic and abstract movement to create a facetious depiction of the ways in which women continue to be culturally stereotyped. No holds are barred as the performers confront themes of feminism, homosexuality, domesticity, and drug use in outrageous and hilarious solos, duets, and ensembles.
Playground Rules-Choreographer Sarah Mondle presents a fun, light-hearted dance that emphasizes friendship in its various stages. From childhood innocents to grown up goofballs, some connections are always young at heart.

No Tour de Tech Terrace This Weekend
Tour de Tech Terrace has been postponed until further notice. The following is a letter from tour organizer Jeff Bynum, reprinted with permission.
Good morning all,
First, I wanted to thank everyone for being so helpful and understanding with the Tour. I am sorry that I have not replied to all of your emails sooner, I was sick this weekend. I know most of you do not know me, but I have been running the Tour for the past 2 ½ years. During this time I have been working closely with Susan Tomilson to try and make the tour successful. The biggest initiative that I have right now is to make the Tour an event that is not only a great time to the participants, but is enjoyable by the Home Owners as well. I know with 100% confidence that the Tour will not happen again, if we do not forge a solid, long lasting relationship between the organizers and the Home Owners Association. I have been trying my hardest for the past 2 years to make it an event where everyone can enjoy it, but we cannot continue the way that we are. It has become a situation where there is only one party that is benefiting, and lets be honest, it is not the home owners. I AM GOING TO TRY MY HARDEST TO MAKE THIS A THING OF THE PAST. At the end of the day, you, the home owners, are the ones that live there, and YA’LL are the ones that we need to please, not the students. I believe that if we build up this relationship and have everyone’s questions and concerns addressed than we will have a successful Tour. I think that the best way to do this is to have a representative from the Tour attend the home owners meetings. This way everyone will know where we are with the Tour and what our plan of action is. I have found that open and honest communication is not only beneficial, but a NECESSITY to be able to build a relationship. You all have my contact information, and I will include it again for your records. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL OR EMAIL ME WITH YOUR QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.
So the big question/ concern on everyone mind is about the Tour being this weekend. THERE WILL BE NO TOUR THIS WEEKEND! I know that there is a Facebook post out there that says the Tour will be this weekend. I have posted on the Facebook page that there will be no Tour this weekend. Since we are doing some “re-construction” of the Tour, I have made the decision to postpone it until NEXT SEMESTER. I believe that if we take the time to work with the Home Owners Association, and the Lubbock Police Department than the Tour will end up better than ever. I have talked to Sgt. Hook from the Lubbock Dept. this morning and assured him there will be no Tour this weekend. I also told him about the fact that some people think that there will be one. I let him know that the riders that might be there this weekend are NOT Tour sanctioned, so are able to prosecuted for anything that they may do i.e. Public Intoxication, indecent exposure, Drinking and Driving, etc. He has assured me that he will treat them as individual cases. If you have any problems with riders, please either inform them that the tour has been postponed, or you can contact the Police Dept. I apologize for any inconvenience to ya’ll, I know that most all of you have been very helpful, understanding, and supportive of the Tour.
I am completely open to any suggestions on how to make the Tour a better event than it has been in the past. I believe that the time of the Tour being just for the students is behind us. I want this to be a Tech Terrace event, and more importantly one you can be proud of. One thing that I would like to start is a childrens event. I do know that I WILL need help with this because there is a lot of work that will need to go into it. If there is anyone on this email string, or anyone that you know who would be interested please get me in contact with the. A children’s event is something that I have been wanting to do for a while, but need some help getting it organized.
I am sorry about the novel of an email, but I wanted to get everything in one email since I am not in Lubbock to speak with you. like I said, if you need anything please feel free to reach out to me. Have a great day!

City Shuts Down Neighborhood Cat House
From the KCBD website:
LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A house in the 3200 block of 20th Street was deemed "Unlawful to Occupy" by the city this week after the smell of cats became too much for neighbors to handle.
Crews have been cleaning the house for the past two days, but the smell is still very strong.
It got so bad, neighbors called and complained to City Councilman Todd Klein, who brought in city inspectors.
Crews dressed in haz-mat suits are on scene trying to clean up the animal waste that is responsible for the smell.
Councilman Klein went personally to visit the house and speak with neighbors.
"I'd gotten a letter on it," Klein said. "We've since met with some very concerned citizens that live on the block. I actually went that Friday after learning about it and met with some people across the street."
"As soon as I got out of my vehicle, I immediately got belted by that smell," Klein said. "It's an unfortunate circumstance for all parties involved."
Klein said neighbors feared for their health and had actually stopped going outside their homes because of the smell.
It's not clear if any humans were living in the house, but city officials have removed two dogs from the property.
Neighbors believe the cats, as many as 30 cats, were moved to another location before city representatives got there. The cats may have already been fostered or euthanized. We'll let you know more once we receive confirmation from the Humane Society.
The owner has been cited for an odor issue and having unsanitary conditions in the house.
Klein says the city is doing everything they can to make sure neighbors don't get sick. He says this is the first time anything like this has happened in his memory and he hopes the problem can be resolved quickly.
"We've got a serious situation that we're doing everything we can to get addressed as quickly as possible," Klein said.

Watering Restrictions Go Into Effect on April 1
It's no April Fool's Day Joke. Strict Watering Restrictions go into effect on April 1st.
From the City of Lubbock website:
The City is not running out of water. We have a long-term supply of water. The City needs to implement Stage 2 of its Drought Contingency Plan as a precautionary measure due to two major factors. First, the City will have less water available through the summer months than it did last year due to Lake Meredith’s water supply being exhausted in 2011 and Lake Alan Henry’s water supply not becoming available until the end of 2012. The gap in water supplies results in less water available this summer to handle peak the water demand. Second, meteorologists predict we will have another hot, dry summer resulting in above average water demand. Water restrictions starting on April 1st, focus on reducing and spreading out landscape irrigation times. About 50% of our water use during the summer months goes to irrigate our landscape. These restrictions will remain in place until the Lake Alan Henry water supply is functional. Until that time, we are asking all customers to take extra steps to use less water."
Current Restrictions
The following restrictions shall apply:
Landscape irrigation may occur only between the hours of 6:00 p.m.–10:00 a.m. from April 1-Sept. 30.
Landscape irrigation is restricted to one day per week. Irrigation schedules will be based on the last digit of the address:
Irrigation shall provide a maximum of 1.5 inches per zone per week.
Winter irrigation may only occur when temperatures are above 35°F so as not to cause a freezing hazard and shall provide a maximum of 1.0 inch per zone per month for dormant grasses (i.e., Bermuda) and 1.0 inch per zone every two weeks for cool season grasses (i.e., Fescue).
Irrigation shall occur without significant water runoff, which can be accomplished by correctly cycling the sprinkler system and allowing time for the water to soak into the landscape between irrigation events.
Water customers will refrain from or significantly limit aesthetic and non-essential water use. Water shall not be used to wash down hard surfaced areas, including without limitation, sidewalks, parking lots, gutters and patios. Water shall not be used for dust control. However, water may be used for road construction or to clean surfaces for painting.
New plant material may be irrigated on a more frequent basis until the new plant material is established. For further instructions on this please call the Water Resources Deparment at (806) 775-3596.
To report a violation of these restrictions or to leave a complaint about water runoff, please call the Water Wasting Hotline at 806-775-3952. To request a rain gauge to help measure 1.5 inches of water for your lawn, email us at soffutt@mail.ci.lubbock.tx.us.

Dog Park Discussion- The issue of dogs being off-leash in Tech Terrace Park was raised and discussed, citing the safety concerns that some residents have, the desire for the social benefits (for both the dogs and dog owners), and the actual wording of the city ordinance leash law. A compromise was suggested that might involve proposing a new ordinance that allows dogs to be off-leash during certain hours of the day only. This idea met with favor and it was suggested that the dog park subcommittee should investigate its feasibility.
New Business-
Sarah Duncan asked the NA to support the movement to keep block scheduling at LHS as it is conducive to the LEAP Program the NA helped encourage in the 1970’s. She encouraged individuals to write the Board of Trustees for LISD.
Mary Vines moved that a letter from the NA be sent to LISD in support of the LEAP program and a bell schedule that would best fit that program.
Melanie Barnes seconded the motion
No discussion
Motion passed unanimously
Sandy Anderson suggested that the letter be sent to each member of the Board of Trustees.
